Good morning, everyone!

So far the city of Philadelphia is moving forward with the next phase of Green this Friday, July 3.  I am super excited about this news as Steelworks Strength Systems gets to resume its mission of helping people live healthier and happier lives!

Obviously, how we operate classes will be a little different moving forward for the foreseeable future.  Below you’ll find the steps we are taking to mitigate risks and develop a safe training environment here at Steelworks Strength Systems.

  1.  Class Sizes
    • After measuring out space on the gym floor with requisite 6 feet distancing and thinking about how coaches and clients move around the space, I’ve determined that we can safely coach 10 clients in each sixty minute class.
    • This 10 person cap applies to all clients regardless of what program you follow (Strength and Conditioning, Olympic Weightlifting, Virtual Coaching, Personal Training).
  2. Class Schedule
    • After examining feedback from clients in a recent poll, the class schedule will tentatively be as follows:
      • 6:00 am, 7:15 am, 8:30 am, 12:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 5:15 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:45.
    • You’ll notice a 15 minute buffer between consecutive classes.  This is in place for a few reasons.
      • First, we want to give one class’s clients the chance to complete their workout, gather their belongings,  sanitize their equipment, and exit the gym before the arrival of the next class’s participants.
      • Next, we want to give coaches time to be sanitize the bathrooms and any equipment used in their classes.
  3. Ventilation
    • The garage door and front door will be open during training to provide as much fresh air into the space as possible.
    • Two more fans will be placed in the gym to encourage more circulation and the building air fans will also be running.
  4. Face Masks
    • On June 26, the City officially mandated that masks must be worn in any indoor public space.  All clients must wear a face mask upon entering the gym and continue to wear them during independent mobility work, walking around the gym to get equipment, use restroom facilities, get drinking water from the cooler, and during workout briefings.  Masks can be removed when clients are situated in their respective workouts zones.  These zones will be roughly 36 sq ft in size (6’x’6′).  Coaches will also be wearing masks throughout the training session.
  5. Programming
    • Workouts will be structured to limit the amount of movement within the space during the workout.
    • Movements that would normally require spotters (back squat, bench press) will still be programmed, but we will ask clients to choose weights which they can successfully lift without spotters.

We are also transitioning to a more interactive digital experience at Steelworks.  Not only will the workouts be digitally displayed, but clients will be able to know the day’s workout by 5:00 am each day, too.  Clients will also be able to input and track their results from the day’s training either at the gym through an interactive kiosk or also through their phones or personal computers.  This will all be accomplished through our current membership management software, Zen Planner.  More on how to record and track your workouts HERE.

The last few months have been full of change and adaption.  Our current environment demands flexibility and patience.  We appreciate your understanding as we work to establish successful practices here at Steelworks Strength Systems.  We welcome any constructive feedback that might help us create the most positive and supportive training environment possible during these times.

While I look forward to seeing everyone back in action, I understand if some clients are hesitant to reactivate their memberships.  If you would like to maintain your membership hold, please contact me as soon as possible at [email protected] to discuss your options.

Stay healthy. Stay safe!

Brian.
