I like to think that every day in the gym is a part of a process.
A process that is greater than the sum of its parts.
That is we trust in it, success is sure to come.
But what about those days when success is hard to find?
What about those days when the bar feels cold and heavy as you stumble through the snatch warmup?
This past week was a frustrating one.
I failed on what is usually a comfortable weight and found myself questioning the program and myself.
Simply put, I just wasn’t feeling it.
I kept asking myself, “What is the point of all this?” “Why make a hobby a chore?” and most importantly
“Why isn’t this working?”
It’s funny how one week can bring unexpected success, while the next can shatter your confidence.
Reality is a hard pill to swallow.
How do I turn defeat into victory? How do I improve without confidence?
With a week until my next weightlifting meet I guess I’ll have to find out fast.
Some weeks are a grind. I’ll try to enjoy the journey.
