In the gym, if strength is “king”, then CONSISTENCY is “god”.

The greatest training program in the world is meaningless if you never do the workouts.

Hands down, being inconsistent with healthy habits is the destroyer of attaining your fitness goals.

So before you look at your squat technique and/or introduce complex nutrition protocols, building consistent patterns into your life is key.

If you are starting from scratch, begin with something incredibly simple, but measurable. “Drink 8 glasses of water a day.” “Go to bed at 11:00 pm.” “Bike to work one day a week.” These are all great examples, but the important thing is that they are simple for you!

Not sure of what constitutes a “simple” task on which you can start? Use these three questions courtesy of @precisionnutrition to help guide you:

“On a scale of 1 to 10, how ready are you to perform a task?”
“On a scale of 1 to 10, how willing are you to execute it?”
“On a scale of 1 to 10, how able are you to perform it?”

The goal is to choose a task that produces a result of 9 out of 10 for each of the three questions. If your results are closer to 5 out of 10, the task might be a bit too difficult to tackle at this time.

Improved health and fitness is a marathon, not a sprint. If you want to hit that first strict pullup, master Olympic lifting, or reduce your body fat by 10%, know that it is a LONG TERM process. Using simple goals to guide your journey will increase the likelihood of you adhering to the effort it takes to achieve your end result.
